Pets
and Animals in Distress PET PAL Food Drive
By Don Kjos
Pets and Animals in Distress (now
Pets and Animals in Distress) donated over $25,000 worth of dog, cat, puppy
and kitten food to local no-kill shelters and rescue group throughout
South Florida to help feed over 2000 homeless dogs and cats on
March 23, 2001. Pets and Animals in Distress wants to thank our
PET PAL anonymous donor for this lifesaving donation of a full
semi-trailer load of dog, cat, puppy, kitten food and litter
to our organization. This was a gift from above. We were surprised
when we saw how much pet food was being donated - some 84 pallets
filled to the top with brand new fresh various pet foods. We
could only use so much for our own organization, so Brenda Beck,
Founder/President of Pets and Animals, got on the Pet PAL phone
and immediately started contacting over 20 rescue organizations
in the South Florida area. We all know that medical and food
expenses are costly to all organizations and this can save each
organization monies that can be used to help their pets in different
ways.
We also want to thank U-Haul of
Margate for the use of their 24-foot truck to pick-up and transport
all the pallets of pet food to the PET PAL Food Drive. Home Depot
of Pompano Beach was generous to allow us to set up a PET PAL
Food Drive that day in their parking lot. And not to forget -
all of our great organization volunteers that got a great hot
sweat workout for a great cause. Brenda Beck, Donald Kjos, Phil
Marvel, Mary Ellen Joseph, Chris Sisto, and all the organizations
below that were invited.
.....Thank You from Pets and Animals
in Distress!
